ISKANDR were already difficult to classify with Euprosopon, and it is even harder now. Yes, they are on the traditional end of the black metal spectrum, with nothing in common with the dissonant and chaotic stream (so, no Deathspell Omega or Icelandic comparators here). But neither is Gelderse Poort the sort of atmospheric black metal with folk elements that we have heard, for instance, in Drudkh or any Cascadian band. ISKANDR are not exactly original, but they ARE doing their own thing.
Favorite track: Gelderse Poort.
